Corporate & not-for-profit clients
I am fortunate to work with a diverse range of not-for-profit organisations and corporate foundations, utilising my background and experience in strategic communications, professional services marketing, corporate social responsibility, sponsorship, fundraising and philanthropy. I would love to hear from you if you’d like to hire me for a project. My LinkedIn profile has more detail.
Recent clients include:
Creative Communities Outreach Initiative, Department of Public Information, United Nations
Last year I worked with the CCOI on projects that assist the film and TV industries to incorporate the United Nations in their work. I wrote everything from talking points for senior UN figures to website copy, press releases and internal reports.
The Freehills Foundation
The philanthropic foundation of one of Australia’s largest commercial law firms, Freehills. I have worked on several projects for Freehills Foundation since leaving their full-time employment in 2006 after six years, including devising the content strategy for the Foundation’s flagship print materials, conducting research and interviewing senior business and not-for-profit leaders, and writing the content to a tight deadline. Subsequently I did the same for the firm’s Singapore office. I am currently revising the Foundation brochure, rewriting website content and fulfilling ad hoc requests on an ongoing basis.
‘Virginia just gets it’ is the catch-phrase in my office when we explain why we choose Virginia for our special writing assignments. She and I met more than a decade ago when we worked together at Freehills for several years where she produced great-looking publications and an award-winning website. Since 2009 I have engaged Virginia regularly as a consultant to the Freehills Foundation, where she has written and edited a range of internal and external communications projects. She writes beautifully and clearly and understands the nature of our business and just gets what we are trying to achieve. Over and above this, we like the way Virginia shares our vision for our projects while urging us to try something new, think a little differently – suggestions always delivered with her unique expertise and good sense. ~Annette Bain, Pro Bono Counsel and Executive Director, Freehills Foundation
The Indigenous Literacy Foundation
Since July 2011 I have conducted research and written grant applications for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to improve literacy outcomes for Aboriginal children living in remote communities across Australia.
The Lowy Institute for International Policy
I advised the Lowy Institute on an e-communications strategy and wrote the creative brief and draft content for the Institute’s print brochure.
National E-Health Transition Authority
Since 2007 I have been a regular freelance writer/editor for NEHTA, a not-for-profit company established by the Australian, State and Territory governments to develop better ways of electronically collecting and securely exchanging health information. I’ve written consumer-focused materials ranging from a series of postcards and website copy through to their Annual Report.
